Artist Infomation

천칠봉(千七峰, 1920-1984)은 한국 근현대 서양화단의 사실주의적 구상회화를 대표하는 작가로 전북 지역 서양화단의 1.5세대 작가로 활동하며 한국의 산천과 고궁을 소재로 한 풍경화를 꾸준히 제작하였다. 광복 후 전매청에 근무하며 동광미술회, 녹광회, 신상회 회원으로 작품 활동을 이어갔으며, 1960년경 직장을 사직하고 서울에 정착하면서 본격적으로 화가의 길을 걸었다. 이후 대한민국미술전람회(국전)와 목우회를 중심으로 활동하였으며, 1961년 제10회 국전에 <고궁>으로 입선한 것을 시작으로 9회에 걸쳐 수상하고 초대작가와 심사위원을 역임하였다. 1963년 목우회 공모전에서 <비원의 승재정>으로 수상한 뒤 회원으로 추대되며 당대 구상화단의 주요 작가로 자리매김하였다.

천칠봉은 특히 창덕궁을 비롯한 고궁과 궁원 풍경을 주요 소재로 삼았으며, 1960~1970년대 궁원을 중심으로 활동한 이른바 ‘비원파(祕苑派)’를 대표하는 작가 중 한 명으로 평가된다. 손응성, 변시지 등과 함께 한국적인 정취가 깃든 풍경을 탐구한 그는 고궁의 건축과 정원, 계절의 변화가 어우러진 장면을 사실적이고 담담한 필치로 담아냈다. 또한 수유리 일대에 거주하며 북한산의 산과 계곡을 비롯한 자연 풍경을 꾸준히 관찰하고 그려, 고향 전북에서 서울의 궁원과 전국의 산천으로 확장되는 자신의 시선을 화면에 구현하였다. 화려한 연출보다는 대상에 대한 충실한 관찰과 안정적인 구도를 바탕으로 한국의 풍경이 지닌 고유한 정취를 표현한 점에서 천칠봉의 작품은 1960~1970년대 한국 구상회화의 흐름을 살펴볼 수 있는 중요한 의미를 지닌다.

Objects purchased in online auctions must be collected in person. Shipping may be requested if in-person collection is not possible. Shipping fees will be charged as below.

Additional fees may apply for unique delivery circumstances such as no-elevator (walk-up) buildings, ladder truck requirements, etc.

Parcel delivery is only available for select items at a fee of KRW 5,000 (KRW 10,000 for remote regions or Jeju Island.) Parcel delivery may not be available depending on the weight and value of item(s).
Luxury goods and musical instruments must be collected in person.
For in-person pickups, please contact your specialist by 5 pm of the day before to reserve pickup. (For weekends and holidays, pickup must be reserved by Friday or the last prior business day.)
