Artist Infomation

이명미는 1970년대 한국 현대미술의 실험적 흐름 속에서 출발하여 ‘놀이-게임’이라는 독자적인 회화 언어를 구축해 온 작가이다. 1972년 홍익대학교 회화과를 졸업한 이후 국전을 비롯해 《앙데팡당전》, 《서울현대미술제》, 《한국실험작가전》 등에 참여했으며, 1974년 대구현대미술제의 창립 멤버이자 최연소 여성 작가로 참여하며 화단에 이름을 알렸다. 초기에는 스펀지를 태우거나 캔버스에 비닐을 부착하는 등 재료의 물성을 활용한 실험적인 작업을 전개했으나, 1970년대 후반부터 기존의 개념과 논리 중심의 미술에서 벗어나 감성과 직관에 기반한 회화적 언어를 모색했다. 1977년 첫 개인전의 제목으로 등장한 ‘놀이-게임’은 이후 작가의 작업을 관통하는 핵심 개념으로 자리 잡았으며, 예측할 수 없는 삶의 우연을 긍정하고 자유로운 감성과 생명력을 표현하는 작가의 태도를 함축한다.

이명미의 화면에는 사람과 동물, 식물은 물론 집과 의류, 음식, 가구, 숫자와 문자 등 일상의 다양한 요소가 등장한다. 작가는 평범하고 주변적인 대상들을 강렬한 원색과 단순한 형태로 표현하고, 이미지와 함께 문자와 TEXT를 적극적으로 활용해 기호적인 화면을 구성한다. 원근감과 사실적인 묘사를 배제한 명료한 형상과 반복적인 패턴은 팝아트적 요소를 환기하는 동시에 주관적인 감성과 자유로운 표현을 중시하는 작가의 태도를 드러낸다. 특정한 미술사조의 틀에 머무르지 않고 일상의 모든 대상을 회화의 언어로 전환해 온 이명미는 ‘놀이-게임’을 통해 우연과 자유, 삶에 대한 긍정을 표현하며 독창적인 조형세계를 구축해 왔다.

Objects purchased in online auctions must be collected in person. Shipping may be requested if in-person collection is not possible. Shipping fees will be charged as below.

Additional fees may apply for unique delivery circumstances such as no-elevator (walk-up) buildings, ladder truck requirements, etc.

Parcel delivery is only available for select items at a fee of KRW 5,000 (KRW 10,000 for remote regions or Jeju Island.) Parcel delivery may not be available depending on the weight and value of item(s).
Luxury goods and musical instruments must be collected in person.
For in-person pickups, please contact your specialist by 5 pm of the day before to reserve pickup. (For weekends and holidays, pickup must be reserved by Friday or the last prior business day.)

Storage

A storage fee of KRW 30,000 per day will be charged for each lot that has not been collected 7 calendar days after purchase, regardless of whether the purchase price has been rendered in full.
