Artist Infomation

콰야(qwaya)는 '밤을 지새운다'는 의미의 한자어 과야(過夜)와 Quiet(조용한), Quest(탐색)을 상징하는 알파벳 Q가 합쳐진 이름이다. 콰야라는 이름처럼 그의 화면에서는 고요한 밤의 정취를 느낄 수 있다. 밤은 조용하고 차분하지만 복잡한 감정들과 생각이 밀려드는 사색의 시간이기도 하다. 그래서 그런지 얼핏 보면 밝아만 보이는 작품에서도 왠지 모를 애틋함이 느껴진다. 밤새 잠 못 이루고 써 내려간 일기장 속의 속마음과 이야기들이 화면에서 살아나는 듯하다.

“밤을 지나는 시간은 오롯이 나만의 것이었다. 지극히 현실적이면서도 현실과는 동떨어진 침묵과 사색의 시간. 날을 마무리하며 하나 둘 떠오르는 기억들 나에게 있어서 기록은 항상 중요한 일이다. 주관적 기록을 통해 새로이 해석되고 변형되는 이미지들을 나타낸다. 나만의 방식으로 기록을 쌓아가려 한다.” - 콰야

콰야의 모든 작업은 밑 작업 없이 진행된다. 스케치 없이 즉흥적으로 얹어진 강렬한 색과 터치들이 겹쳐져 독특한 분위기로 완성된다. 콰야의 인물들은 다채로운 색감과 특유의 터치로 작가가 일상에서 느끼는 감정과 들은 이야기, 주변인들로 표현된다고 한다. 그의 작품 속 익숙하면서도 낯선 다양한 인물들은 우리 모두의 초상이자, 우리가 잊고 지낸 소중한 순간들이다. 콰야는 2019년 밴드 잔나비의 2집 앨범 커버 작업으로 대중들에게 본격적으로 알려지기 시작했다. 2020년 이길이구 갤러리에서의 개인전, 2021 목인박물관 개인전, 아틀리에 아키에서의 온라인 개인전을 거듭하며 특히 젊은 세대들을 중심으로 폭발적인 관심과 사랑을 받고 있다.

Objects purchased in online auctions must be collected in person. Shipping may be requested if in-person collection is not possible. Shipping fees will be charged as below.

Additional fees may apply for unique delivery circumstances such as no-elevator (walk-up) buildings, ladder truck requirements, etc.

Parcel delivery is only available for select items at a fee of KRW 5,000 (KRW 10,000 for remote regions or Jeju Island.) Parcel delivery may not be available depending on the weight and value of item(s).
Luxury goods and musical instruments must be collected in person.
For in-person pickups, please contact your specialist by 5 pm of the day before to reserve pickup. (For weekends and holidays, pickup must be reserved by Friday or the last prior business day.)

A storage fee of KRW 30,000 per day will be charged for each lot that has not been collected 7 calendar days after purchase, regardless of whether the purchase price has been rendered in full.
